Lent 2007

Young FamilyAre we there yet? It's a familiar question, especially if you're travelling with young children. Two minutes after you've left the house, a little voice will pipe up, “Are were there yet?”

Lent is a journey: its a journey of deeper understanding, of self-denial, of coming closer to God. It's our journey home.

Where are we as we start our journey? Are we on-track or side-tracked?

The website invites visitors to join the Lenten journey, suggesting four things we can do together during Lent – THINK, PRAY, ACT and TRANSFORM. Enjoy!

Think

Image This section provides food for the journey. Each week there are brief reflections and a homily on the Sunday’s readings, and there are fuller explanations on what and how we actually celebrate during Lent and during the Easter Triduum.

Pray

ImageHere is a space to be with God who is calling you home. There's a short prayer in the family. You can write your own prayer request to be supported by the wider praying community, in particular, the Benedictine monks in Rostrevor. There is also a weekly pictorial meditation and a live video link to Mass at Clonard Redemptorist Monastery in Belfast.

Act

ActTrócaire is constantly reminding us that: “Lent is what you do”. So there are suggestions for action – in the family (a daily deed), in the community (a parish deed), in the environment (an eco deed) and in the wider world (a Trócaire deed).

Transform

TransformHow can we make a difference together? Here we discuss Working together - as a community/parish with questions  arising from each Sunday's gospel and homily. There are also thoughts about Reconciliation during Lent  - we can be be at peace again with God and with one another - including suggestions about Confession and Communal Penance Services.
